Qualities of a good umpire are easy to distinguish and anyone who is involved in umpiring, at any level, would agree that the qualities of an umpire are easy to list and when coupled with natural talent make a good umpire.

There is a range of all these qualities which are generally considered "acceptable", however this range is heavily influenced by an individuals emotions and their perception of a given incident at a given time, thus leading to a disagreement.

Good umpires tend to be those who can manage to stay inside the accepted range for the majority of the time, as we know this is easier said then done.
